It’s almost December and the days are getting shorter and colder. Thanksgiving has flown by, hopefully this was a time of relaxation and enjoying your friends and family, bringing those far away close again and energizing everyone for the “Giving” season to come.
It has been a busy start to our school year. Classes have settled into their new routines, children are becoming familiar with their new teachers and creating memories with their friends, all while learning so many new and exciting things.
Halloween was a whirlwind of excitement! Trolls was our school wide theme this year- we loved all the bright colors and characters and the smiles on the children’s faces on Halloween morning. Our annual Trunk or Treat was amazing. We had 11 cars decorated, and almost all the parents dressed to compliment their theme- it was a sight to see! Thank you so much to all who participated as well as to those who supported our class parties with generous donations. Next year’s Halloween will be here before we know it.
October also brought the Fire Department to visit for Fire Safety and Prevention as well as Picture Day and Back To School Night. We explored German culture and Polka music. We enjoyed Kucken (cake) and Streusel for snack. The Eagles and Owls went to Springdale Farm for pumpkin picking and the younger classes picked their very own pumpkins right here at Laurel Tree on the playground.
Fall conferences were held in November. Thank you to all who were able to come meet with the teachers and discuss the school year plans and your child’s progress. It is such a great opportunity to speak one on one outside of the crazy drop off and pick up times. Conferences will be offered again in the Spring, but please let your child’s teacher know if you have any questions or concerns anytime during the year. They are always available to schedule a meeting with you if needed.
We explored Native American Culture and Percussion and drums during November, as well as Farm and family. We conducted our annual Food Drive, thanks so much for your support. Food collected was donated to a Food Pantry in Palmyra. We also enjoyed pickle tasting, so many different kinds.
