March has been an exciting month for the Hummingbirds. From celebrating Mardi Gras and St. Patrick’s Day, March has had a lot of special days. I know the Hummingbirds loved making BIG ART and enjoyed having their “tea” party. The weather has been nicer too, thankfully, and the Hummingbirds are eager to be outside working on our gross motor skills and getting fresh air. We continue to work on social/emotional skills, manners, potty training and sharing. We are encouraging more vocabulary usage through reading stories and listening to one another share ideas and little conversations. Our projects related to our themes encourage our use of fine motor skills and creativity. Our circle time has progressed to include more counting and phonics, making me very proud of the growth I’m seeing!
A BIG thank you to all the parents, grandparents and other family members for being apart of Read Across America and being the Hummingbirds’ mystery readers. They get so excited knowing they are going to be surprised by a loved one and hear their favorite stories.
As we’ve had the chance to go outside more, we have been working on zipping and unzipping our own coats. Most of us need a little head start but once it’s started will proudly finish the job. Please continue to let them try on their own at home as well. They also take off their own coats and hand them to a teacher rather than throwing them on the ground.
