February has started with a bang for the Hummingbirds! We already had two big celebrations in our room. The first one was the Super Bowl. We had fun getting to celebrate with soft pretzels. Next, we prepped for and celebrated Valentine’s Day. The Hummingbirds loved being artistic and making beautiful frames for their parents. They loved giving them to their loved ones. They also had a blast handing out their valentines to one another. We have more fun days coming up this month like the Lantern Festival and Fairy Tale Day. We also will be having our Pet Fundraiser starting soon. All of these special activities give us the opportunity to practice our fine motor skills with art projects, our social skills with taking turns and our language/auditory skills with reading stories about our celebrations.
The Hummingbirds have also been focusing on identifying colors. We like to call out the colors as we step on the different colored squishy balls in gym. We also love the activity where we match the various colored balls into the buckets that are labeled with each of the colors. Our favorite books have recently been more color-focused as well. We definitely have eager and engaged learners in our class!
The weather has been all over the place, and we still try to get out as much as we can. Please keep cubbies ready for whatever weather we having coming.
We also have some exciting news; Ms. Faith has accepted the position as Lead Teacher for the Hummingbirds’ nest! She is very excited about working with the Hummingbirds again and is ready to help them grow in so many ways 🙂
Miss Faith brings a lot to the table as a teacher including a bachelors degree from Penn State, an energetic spirit, compassion and love for children and previous experience as a teaching assistant.
