Happy New Year! It’s time once again to start a new year! The Eagles are all very excited to continue with our normal routine after the holidays. Our new themes this month were Birds, Winter, and Planets and Space.
We began the month by learning about Birds. We love learning about all different kinds of animals, but birds are especially fun! We learned all about what they eat, how they fly, and what exactly do they do in the winter. One of our favorite activities was Feed the Birds. We used apples, gelatin, and birdseed to make our own birdfeeders to hang out on our playground.
Our Bird theme transitioned nicely into our theme about Winter. We talked about polar animals and winter weather. This was perfectly timed because we finally had snow on the playground! We practiced our self help skills by dressing ourselves in our snow pants, boots, jackets, gloves, and hats. We had such a great time playing in the snow!
Our last theme was Planets and Space. We had a blast creating rockets and pretending to send them off into space! Our space carpet also had a lot of movement on it as we learned about the planets and traveled from one to another.
Throughout this month we have focused on the letters N-Q. We also began practicing writing our numbers this month. We used the white board table and dry erase markers to make them POP! We also used number cards and counting bears to make the one to one correspondence between the object and the number. It has been a very busy month!
