The month of May has arrived! Mother Nature hasn’t realized that April has ended, she continues to send us showers almost daily. No need to fret, our children weather it all, they love to play outside and the classes are filled with many pairs of colorful rain boots.
April was a busy, busy month. We traveled the world, learning about different countries, climates and cultures. We celebrated Earth Day with a visit from Mother Earth, who taught us all about recycling and taking care of our planet. We also learned about the desert, the artic, caves and rain forest during “Clean up our Climate” day-where the children visited each classroom for a hands on experience with each climate. We celebrated Baseball Opening Day with a special lunch of hot dogs and tator tots-yummy! We enjoyed a very special Family Heritage Luncheon, where we invited family members to bring in a favorite family dish and join us for lunch. We had so many guests, it was wonderful!
In May we will learn about bugs, zoo animals, birds and dinosaurs. We celebrated Cinco De Mayo with a Mexican feast on May 5. For Mother’s Day, we had Muffins with Moms during breakfast and the older classes invited their Moms for a special Muffins with Mom tea in the classrooms at 10AM. Classes were decorated in beautiful pink and green and many treats, along with pink lemonade and tea, were served. We were so happy that so many Moms were able to join us, what a great day! The children all made lavender sachets hand painted with purple fingerprint lavender flowers for Mom. Other activities this month will include: Feed the Birds, bird feeder project, a Zoo animal picnic, children are invited to bring stuffed animals to share a lunch time picnic as well as “digging for bones” and Dino Races. We will also learn about “Island Life” and our music will explore steel drums.
